*still need to make Oliver’s design for this AU and overall polish the story up more
The Story:
This world is full of magical beings, some higher ranking than others. Iroha works at her family’s cafe, but on the same day that she confessed her feelings to Oliver, she also angered a powerful witch! After accidentally stealing a broom, the witch it belongs to had been so offended that she secretly cursed Iroha to forget (almost) everything whenever she goes to bed. While her confession was successful, the next day she couldn’t remember the outcome of her efforts. It’s from this point that she made it her mission to make Oliver fall in love with her through any means possible!
Oliver is a Reaper/Angel of Death. He doesn’t technically need to be around such low ranking monsters like vampires and ghouls, but when he met Iroha at the cafe he decided to stick around. Compared to the monotony and melancholy of his usual work, Iroha and the cafe provided a necessary calm and lightness. He’d grown to find her quite endearing over the time they spent together, and was happy to know she felt the same way. Which made him all the more confused when the next day Iroha was much more bashful around him than usual.
Only when he got a drink did he realize something must really be different. He saw right through it, a failed attempt at some kind of love potion. It would have actually been quite funny if not for how different she was already acting. Not sure what to make of it, he decided to play along, and the smile on her face when he ‘fell in love’ certainly made it worth it. Yet the next day, once again, it was almost like there was never any confession in the first place.
It’s from this point onward that he’s made it his mission to find whoever caused this to happen, slowly identifying her curse and working his way towards the source. He actually gets pretty scary with people, but around Iroha he always puts on a warm smile and a soft demeanor.
Iroha’s curse is a little complex. She can remember her family, the fact that she has a job, the day of the week, her name, and most of the basic things, but it’s often the last or most important detail that she cannot remember. She can still remember things through the day because the memories only leave when she sleeps. So she knows that she tried to tell Oliver how she felt, or that she’s tried to get him to fall in love with her, but she never remembers the outcome. This leaves her feeling just out of reach, unable to ever really complete the goal she’s set for herself.
This would eventually get to her, but that’s to be explored later. This story is meant to be mostly light-hearted and silly! Iroha always goes to great lengths to get Oli’s affection but her plans never actually work for one reason or another. Either way she always gets a kiss on the cheek!
